KFC Double Down

Between the 14th of October and the 14th of November KFC brought up the infamous "Double Down" Sandwich to Canada.  What exactly is the "Double Down"?

Taken from KFC's Website

The new KFC Double Down sandwich is real! This one-of-a-kind sandwich features two thick and juicy boneless white meat chicken filets (Original Recipe® or Grilled), two pieces of bacon, two melted slices of Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese and Colonel's Sauce.

That's right there is no bun....

$7 later you get a pretty unassuming box, only a little sticker that says Double Down.  I decided to get the Original Recipe version.

Vacation Pictures

As I have something like 1600 pictures to go thru it will take some time for me to get everything posted.  I will try to post everything as a day by day chronicle of what went on.

Mushroom Risotto

Since it was chilly (-5 Degrees) I decided to make some warm comfort food.  Since it's been a while doing a risotto, I initially was going to make a chicken and mushroom risotto but settled on mushroom risotto.

Got all my mis-en-place (Mushrooms, onions, rice, chicken stock, butter, and olive oil)

Baking banana bread at home

This weekend I decided that the bananas that were sitting on the counter were starting to look a little ripe, so what does that mean?  It's time to break out the trusty ole stand mixer and bake some banana bread.

Got all my prep ready on the most part.  Eggs, flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and of course bananas.

Hi, Welcome to the Blog

After years of procrastination I have finally decided to post up some of the things I do and have seen.  Although food is not my job outside of feeding my lovely Wife it is my passion.  I hope that this blog will convey some of experiences I have had.
