Hawaii Cruise Day 5, Last day at sea before Hawaii !!

After a truly amazing magic show last night we slept in and by the time we made it out it was Easter everywhere. First time spending Easter on board a cruise ship and boy what a surprise.  The Piazza was festively decorated with all sorts of chocolate eggs and they had a variety of activities for kids.  Dinner that night was Easter themed at least according to the menu.  Apparently all the eggs are actual chocolate...

Lunch Menu

New England Clam Chowder - "Gross" clams were fishy and the soup itself was overly salty and not creamy. 3.5/10

Crunchy Fried Mozzarella Sticks - Cooked just right, crunchy yet gooey,  I would have liked it more if the sauce had some kick to it. The "marinara" sauce was really warm tomato sauce. 8/10

Triple Decker Chicken Club Sandwich - Really tasty, Charlie finished it all on her own. 9/10

Griddled Potato Latkes - I was rather surprised to see this on a menu, again great job from the kitchen crispy yet not overcooked.  It was great with the apple sauce and sour cream. 10/10  Was tempted to order more !

Chocolate Marquise Slice - Not enough coffee sauce to go with chocolate cake 6/10

Strawberry Trifle - I was a little disappointed in this dessert, the menu description made it sound more interesting.  Unfortunately it was little more than strawberry Jello sitting on a piece of sponge cake covered in cream. 6/10

Baked Apple in Puff Pastry - The aroma, after someone at the table ordered and received it I ordered one as well, warm fluffy pastry and the vanilla cream complimented the slightly tart apples perfectly. Perhaps the best executed dessert I have had cruising ever... 10/10

Easter Dinner Menu

We were rather surprised during our mid-afternoon "restaurant crawl" where we scope out the evening's menus to get an idea on how much we should snack that there was an Easter specific dinner in store to look forward to.

Fettuccine Alfredo in Crisp Parmesan Basket - The classic, tasty and full of "low-calorie" goodness :) The cheese basket was crisp tonight if not just a tad bit saltier than usual.(probably due to everything else being not so salty) 8/10

Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup - Again 5 days in and we are pleased with the level of seasoning overall, unlike Panama where everything was over salted another soup that was seasoned nicely.  Lots of mushroom flavour and not turned completely into a puree. 8.5/10

Strawberry Sorbet -  Ahh the memories this simple palette cleanser brings back.  See http://xltiny.blogspot.ca/2012/01/day-5-of-vacation-cruise-day-2-chefs.html except without the free flowing Vodka.  Refreshing and light, did I mention I love sorbet. 9/10

Seared Diver Scallops in Three Citrus Nage- Same as the last scallop entree from nights past, lack of sear and small scallops. 6/10

Southern Fried Chicken - Cut me some slack but at our table of 5 we ordered something like 4 orders of fried chicken and was it every good.  Crisp non-oily skin and lots of crunch, would definitely order this again if I stumble across it. 9.5/10

Chocolate Lovers Delight -  Three small beautifully presented portions   The portion size was a little larger than bite size. 7/10

Colomba Pasquale - I figured surprise me and lets see how this goes... unfortunately not so well, best way to summarize would be Christmas fruit cake.  Fail on me for trying something different, I poked at it for a while then ordered a creme brulee. 4/10
