Day 6 of Vacation - Cruise Day 3 Aruba, North American Dinner

After taking a bus tour that took the better part of the morning around Aruba we had the afternoon to rest up before the North American Dinner at night.  Have I complained yet about our dinner seating? The 5:15pm dinner seating is much too early and it just doesn't feel right. (Reviews in Red are by Helen)

Tomato Carpaccio with Maryland Crab Cake – It wasn't dried or overcooked, it tasted like a crab cake, better than average. 80/100

Mac “n” Cheese with Italian Bacon Crisps – Not very impressive at all, the cheese sauce was soupy and the bacon was much too salty, although the macaroni was not overcooked. 40/100

Gratinated Oysters Rockefeller with Garlic Spinach – On our previous Princess Cruise the Oysters Rockefeller were served in the half shell, this could have easily been oysters from a can for all we knew.

Frosted Strawberry Soup with Lemon Yogurt – This tasted like a strawberry smoothie heavy on the milk, there was no taste of lemon at all in this “soup”. 60/100

Seared Diver Scallops with Ginger Lime Sauce – Helen ordered two of this dish and had trouble finishing up, the scallops did not really have a nice sear from my observations.

Seared Sirloin Steak with Tobacco Onions and Barbecue Sauce – No Picture as I forgot, again a trend I noticed is the steaks are not seasoned very well if at all and rely very heavily on the sauces, the barbecue sauce was sufficiently tangy and I could not figure out what tobacco onions were. The onions appeared to be stringed fried onions much like what you would encounter on a “western” burger however they were quite soggy. 65/100

Strawberry Buttermilk Shortcake – This was pretty awful, the shortcake was much too tough, difficult to cut with a knife. Not enough strawberry topping and the strawberries were not sweet enough. Really not worth ordering again ever… 25/100
